Default Quilt from wedding dress?

I'm curious, has anyone here made, seen or had a quilt made from a wedding dress? After looking on the web, I couldn't find much information nor many pics of these type quilts.

After lugging my wedding dress around for almost 25 yrs. I have decided i really need to do something with it. I have been ready for years to rehome it but just never have. So recently as I was thinking of donating it again, I began to think about how my mother and I finally found a dress that we could agree upon and how the bridal shop diverted shipping the dress to another young bride because my wedding was sooner than hers and well it was the only dress my mother and I could agree upon. And then I started thinking about how my father was just soooo proud to be walking his only daughter down the aisle and how he was taken aback when he saw me all dolled up in my wedding gear.

So after taking this walk down memory lane, I decided salvaging any usable pieces from this dress and turning it into a quilt would be the perfect way to commemorate these memories. Notice I did not mention the other half of the equation for many a bride's wedding day...... the groom. Ah, well that's because there were no memories of him that welled up in my subconscious on my trip down memory lane. Funny.

I would love to hear your suggestions. The dress has inlaid lace all the way down the train and a laced scalloped border. Hopefully this will all be salvagable. Remember I said this dress was almost 25yrs old... just about vintage.

I have seen topics here about just this- I think some suggested a crazy patch type quilt - that would showcase the fabrics ? Will do a search and see what I can come up with for you

For me it would be a crazy quilt. You wouldn't have to use all white, you could incorporate the other colors of your wedding, (colors of brides maid dresses) using other fabrics. I have gone to thrift stores and Goodwill for years and bought old wedding dresses and formals and took them home and cut them up. I have other friends that CQ also, so I share my findings with them.

My daughter recently had a girl (we are so happy) and she made a christening gown out of her wedding dress. It came out beautifully and she felt good about using the dress. She originally thought she would resell it but the bottom of the dress always seems to get dirty.

I've been thinking about doing something similar with mine and not sure what direction I want to go in....crazy quilt with ring bearer pillows for my sons' weddings or using top part of dress and doing some type of picture frame design....
