sounds like your cats need a sofa throw that is "all mixed up" instead of a solid color. their hair will be more noticeable on a solid...what colors do YOU like? there are many sources on the net for what you are looking for
here is the humble beginning of my retro/30's thang...

nice job ladies! love the quilts!

i have a bunch of 30's prints..washtub fabrics are what they are called in one shop.
www.annalena.com has them..most LQS' have them too..along with the solids to match.
the white i have used with these prints.is Kona "Snow" white..i got at Joanns.
i got 25 FQ's for $25 bucks on sale at Anna Lena a few years ago.which started my love for them!
the best and cheapest way would be to do a swap of FQ's!

The triangles are called prairie points. Really easy to make, a little bit of a pain to sew on, but worth the effort. I think there are different ways of making them. I took a square of fabric, folded it in half on the diagnol (that doesn't looked like I spelled it correctly), pressed it then folded again and pressed again. This way you have all your raw edges on one side and then when you sew that to the quilt, you have no raw edges.
