    Thanks for your responses. I've made several quilts with batiks and sent them to long armer here in my town and she did beautiful job and everything i have ever sent her. I really didn't like the backing so maybe I should be glad this happened; so I will just get another backing that I like and try someone else. I may try to do it myself, but I think it may be just a little big for me to tackle on my dsm as it is 94x111. Thanks again.

    I quilted a batik top with cotton backing on my DSM and had no problem. Just need to get the right combination of thread and needle so that there is no skipping.
