Default Bernina Walking foot - worth the $$??

    Hi All-

Was going to buy a new machine this weekend, but then decided I can live with what I have. I want to purchase a walking foot for my Bernina but they are kinda pricey..what are your thoughts on this foot? I mainly want it for sewing on bindings, but I will tell you that I think the regular foot is fine..thoughts before I go shell out the $$.

    I have a Bernina 1230 and a walking foot.

I'd say the walking foot is really nice to have if you want to quilt with it -- either straight line or wavy line. For that purpose, I think it is worth the money.

I don't bother to use the walking foot for sewing on binding because I don't seem to need it. My Bernina seems to feed well, and the only thing I do is hold the binding slightly taut while I sew. I prefer doing this to using the walking foot because the foot is bulky and not that easy to put on and take off.

I paid almost 100.00 for one for my Viking and really like it. Sure helps.

You saved more then enough by not buying a new machine to buy the walking foot so why fret over buying it or not. Live a little! LOL

The WF is worth the money and don't go generic. Buy the Bernina made one, they're much better quality.

I have a Brother. In the past three years I bought two walking feet from online that supposedly fit my machine, for about $20 each. They never worked. So I broke down and bought one at a Brother store for $77. It works like a charm and runs smooth as silk. To me it's worth the money.

If there is a Bernina dealer near you watch for their sales. Sometimes feet are 20-25% off.

I would definitely buy the Bernina walking foot. I use mine all the time for bindings, and occasionally for other things as well.
