I see alot of you have inquired about the new Horizon and if anyone had tried one or owned one on the board. Well, I haven't seen it yet; but my quilting friend just called a little while ago and was so excited about this machine and all it has to offer. She went to the demonstration today and it was love at first demo lol. She has been saving for a longarm set-up; but is now so impressed with this machine, she is considering just buying it and a smaller frame. I am so anxious to see it up close and personal myself later this month.

The horizon is 2500$ and more machine than I need. But its lovely for sewing, just lots of goodies.

The price is enough to make me just "dream" about it! It is a lot of machine....but would still love to have one. Oh...if money only grew on trees....lol Like My DD said....technically it does!

I saw her today at the local dealer. The sales gal had never worked on the machine (probably not the best way to demo - it was painful to watch). I'd have to say that use is not intuitive. She is pretty, large harp, straight stitch plate automatically slips in place to keep fabric from being sucked into the feed dogs. There is a (touchy) dial to turn to the stitch of choice. I found her to ride smoother than the 6600.

Other than that, I believe she has the features from the Janome 6600. Not quite sure why she is so much more expensive other than new model syndrome.

    Thanks for the information!

    Martina--
Thanks for the info. I rec'd an email from my Janome dealer about the new Horizon....but no price.
I figure if they don't want to tell me that in an email, then it's too expensive....lol
But I have read the info and FAQs at the Janome website and it sounds like a nice machine. It has a couple things I'd like to have.

The dealer had a $2,999 tag on it. I'd start the bidding at around 2 grand and go from there. Maybe some of the dealers offer Mother's Day specials.

If I were looking at that machine, I would make sure that it doesn't have any "first build" kinks. Working in the manufacturing industry, those first builds can be notorious for some oversights.

DH says the same thing about cars! LOL

I did get an email from Janome about it, but haven't yet opened the email.
