What size do you cut your binding? Is 2 1/2 standard?

I think that 2.5 is standard...I've been doing it at 3 inches - I like it better

I have used 3 and it seems to be to big.
I did go down to 2 when I was binding a tablerunner. it was ok. but I do not think I would like it on a full size quilt.

at 3" how far in do you sew it on the front side?? so you have a wider bind on the front?? and so you leave any extra fabric on the frontside or do you cut it off even with the edge of the quilt?

I also use 2 1/2" so I can fold in half for extra strength in the binding. But have done 3" when I thought it would look better on a quilt.

I do 2 1/4" double fold for binding.

I generally do 2-1/4" unless the batting is really thin, in which case I do 2".

I usually do mine at 2 1/2 as well.

me too, however for flannel I use 2.5
