I would look for the longest, highest harp I could afford. Remember the quilt rolls up into the arm, so your quilting area will become narrower as you go. With a 9" arm, you will probably wind up with a quilting area of 4-5". Many folks do king size quilts with this setup, but you may have to turn the quilt half way thru.
Look for a machine without all the bells and whistles. a straight stitch machine will be good. If your frame came with a stitch regulator, make sure you check to see if the sewing machine you are considering will work with that regulator.
If you have a dollar amount in mind that will help narrow down the suggestions.

What machine to get will depend on how large your carriage is. Research your frame to see what machines are recommended for it.

--and it "almost" fits under the tree! Maybe the machine is the stocking stuffer? Wonderful hubby, he got you something you can enjoy for a long time.

Sounds like getting a used machine might be the way to go.

Janome makes a great machine with an 9 inch throat space that is strictly a straight stitch. Wish I had gotten it instead of the one with all the bells and whistles. I'll never use 3/4 of them!

What a wonderful gift! Since he had a hand in the gift, it would be great if he could learn yo use it as well. Have a happy Christmas and enjoy your gift.
