I have a bernina 440 EQ and I am confused about how I can get the blanket stitch on my machine. Does anyone know? And what foot to use? thanks so much, I would perfer to do this for applique vs zigzag. I called the LQS and they helped me and it is #45 and #46 stitch. Dah!

if you have the owners manual, it should cover all those questions! i pull mine out quite often and i've had the machine for years and years but can't remember what all the bells and whistles are for.....old age is catching up with me!

I use stitch #45 with presser foot #20.
My stitch width is 2.7 and stitch length is 2.0.

For machine applique on my Bernina 1230, I use a blind hem stitch rather than a blanket stitch. I use an open toe embroidery foot for the blind hem stitch.

I think on a lot of machines the blanket stitch has one of those triple stitches in it to make it thicker. That is great if you are doing the old-fashioned black blanket stitch.

Mostly what I am doing is invisible machine applique; the blind hem stitch is a better choice for that because it is more adjustable and less visible.

My machine has two different blanket stitches. One is just a single stitch and the other is the triple stitch. I use the single stitch one for applique along with an open toed foot :D:D:D
