What Am I Doing Wrong?
#1
I am making a fabric tube with 5" strips and then cutting them into hsts. Only problem is, my hsts end up 6" square and not 5". I am using a method very similar to the wonder cut ruler method although when I found these directions they didn't say anything about the wondercut. I don't remember where I found the directions or I would go back and see if the site said anything about the finished size of the squares. can someone please explain this is simple sanguage so i can understand? It is driving me nuts.

Rere it probably has to do with the angle you are cutting with. Check out my tutorial I posted yesterday.

The distance across the 45 degree angle is longer than the distance on the 90 degree angle of the triangle. There is a formula in math that figures this out, but I don't remember it. When you open up the cut fabric, the sides of the square are what used to be the 45 degree angle cut. Hope this doesn't confuse you further. You can trim them down to make a 5 " square if you need that.
