Is anyone interested in a quilting book club - you know talking about quilting themed novels? Would this be something I do in diaries?

What would you do in the club? I know of a club they read the same book then make a quilt based on their interpretation of the book. Is this what you had in mind???

I love reading and discussing books...I also donate a ton of books to the library. I would love to do a book swap...I read a ton and normally just donate them to the local library.

This does sound interesting, at least if people have time to fit reading in w/ all the other stuff of their day;} For me, Im retired - every day is Sat. Are there many books out there w/ a quilting theme?
I was in a writing group ( in the real world, not online) we met once a month at the library. We all decided to draw #s out of a hat and then write a book. The number we drew was the chapter we were to write. We all supplied as least 3 characters, but didnt need to use each others characters in our chapter. The only rule was you coldnt kill off someone elses character -lol. You got the chapter ahead of you and played off that - took the story in any direction you wanted. If there arent enough books to read, maybe we could write our own - sharet

sounds great, but I think I've read most all the quilt themed books out there. And I loved them, so guess I could read them again. :)

All of your ideas sound great. I think we could do several things with this, with varied level of participation. I think reading a quilt related novel and discussing it as we go along would be cool and when we finish the book, we could each make small wall hanging. The wall hanging could be just one block that you feel represents the book, something more artistic along the lines of an art quilt or any type of quilt that demonstrates your "response" to the book ..ie what feelings it evoked in you.
Some quilting themed books are about friendship or family, some are mysteries, some are set in quilt shops or around guilds. There is lots to relate to, both on a light level and at times something deeper. I'm glad to hearof some interest. I think what I will do is set up a diary and try to organize this. Participate as much or as little as you want. Time limits would have to be set, maybe a month to read the book (most are quick reads) and then a month to make our quilts. We'll be talking and sharing the whole way. I'll throw out a question for each chapter and feel free to add your own questions, comments and observations. After our quilts are finished, we cn share our photos and tell about our quilt. Someone asked about a book swap. A great idea. Let's try to keep it to quilting novels for now. If you have a book to swap, just post on the diary. When I do the first few posts, I'll list some of the books I am familiar with, and if you know of any or have a suggestion for our first book, please respond to the diary. Look for the diary on Thursday under the heading - creativesheila quilt book club. If anyone knows of a better place on the forum to set this up, let me know. Thanks Sheila
