borders on purple/red/white Log Cabin
I finished the center of a Log Cabin (purple, red, white) and I think I have decided on my borders. My question is....how wide would you make the outer border? At the moment, it is 4 inches on my design wall (as I have several extra 2 1/2 strips and have sort of stuck them together to look at), but I am thinking that 6 inches would look better.
This is not the design I started off to make, but when I got my 16 blocks done, they just didn't look like I thought they would, so I kept rearranging until I got this one that I like. It is called Barn Raising. In hindsight, I think there is too much white in this, but I still like it.
So, how wide would you make the outer border, if this was your quilt? The red will finish at 2 inches.
Thanks for any opinions, and thanks also for those who helped me decide what color to make the center of each block.

Hope this link about using the Golden Ratio to determine border widths will help you, it has helped me.
