How to make substantial template?
#1
I want to make a Kaffe Fasset St. Mark's quilt made from diamond shapes. Once I enlarge the templates, what should I use to make the actual template that I will use? I'm afraid that I would cut into posterboard, but am at a loss here. Any ideas?

Take the enlargement to a glass store and have them cut it out of plexiglass or acrylic. Make sure it is exact or your quilt will be wonky. remember both of these materials can be sanded until smooth, and also get the exact size needed. so if they cut it just a hair to big or whatever just get some super fine sand paper and sand it down.

You want to be sure that whatever you use for the template will not be easily cut (like posterboard) when you are using it, especially if it will be used repeatedly (as the hexes for GFG)
I've used the plastic lids for disposable containers fairly successfully. You do still have to be careful with your rotary cutter especially if they are fairly large pieces.
