ckcowl, I don't think it's horrible or negative at all. The "cheating" reference is because the fabric LOOKS like it's pieced but it is not. I look at it tongue-in-cheek.

Those pieces make great practice panels for FMQ.

I think of cheater fabric as yardage with a pattern printed on it so that it looks like it has either been pieced or quilted straight off the bolt.

There was a thread a few days ago about this. I haven't used them, but https://patternjam.com/explore let's you design your own quilt, then digitally prints it for you in your desired size. They seem to use good quality fabrics. They also have a nice selection of pre designed tops that you can customize.

I hope if I mention it enough, someone will use them and report back on quality

How did you print onto fabric (assuming I'm understanding this and that's what you did)?
