Cheater pineapple quilt block!
#1
At my LQS' Weds Bee, one of the gals showed us how to make a cheater pineapple block. It's so ridiculously simple, and now I can't wait to make one. The way it works is:
Take 2 squares (any size) and sew completely around their perimeter
Draw 2 diagonal lines on the non-one you want to be in the center from sewn corner to corner.
Take your scissors and cut along both lines for ONLY the non-center fabric. So now you have a full square on the bottom and 4 little triangles attached on the outside but loose in the center.
Press open
It resembles a square in a square. But if you use it for S in a S, you lose the points. Pineapple it doesn't matter.
So then you measure your new unit, get a new square that is the same size, and repeat, cutting your new square and leaving the first 2 alone. And you just keep going and the pineapple appears!
It's so awesome! I can't wait to make one!

Reading carefully greatly contributes to understanding  The first time I read it, I read sew on the diagonal lines, then cut, and I just couldn't figure out how that was going to work. So I re-read, just like we teach kids to do, and it all makes sense. Sounds like a great way to use up some various size fabrics :!:
