Color crayons on fabric ?

Color crayons on fabric ?
Quick question, has anyone had experience with coloring fabric for a certain purpose, heat setting it for use in quilts. If so does the color last? Anything special I should know? I had one gal tell me she did this a lot when she needed certain characteristics. Thanks so much!

Our Guild Meeting two weeks ago was on this topic. There were paints, Intense color pencils, colored pencils and fabric crayons. It was very interesting. My favroite were the Dewerks Intense color pencils. I took a photo of a book on the topic, it was called, Quilts of a Different Color by Irena Bluhm, you might find it online.
