    Default Computer Printer Fabric Disapointment!

I wanted to do nice labels for a couple of quilts I have recently finished. Went to JoAnn's and got the sew-in computer printer fabric. Now I see it is not washable. I'm sure the quilts won't be washed a lot, but I don't want something that is going to disappear when it goes in the wash. Is there any way to treat this, so it won't wash out?

Were there any instructions to "heat set" the print?? That is what I would try (w/iron or dryer heat) and then test. But If it remains unwashable, I'd then sew a small pocket on the back of the quilt and inform the recipient that the label and wash instructions were inside. You can just put a paper laundry advisement in the pocket.

Had another tho't--you might put small buttons on back of quilt and buttonholes in label so it can be removed---or velcro, snaps..even tie it on w/ribbons. Can't think of a process that wouldn't get it wet. Be creative....or toss the label kit. Sometimes we learn by trying.

Here is what I used. Came from JoAnn's. I followed the directions to a "t" and had no problems.

If you haven't used it you could return it. I'm sure Joanns has the printer paper that is washable. I bought some there before.

I agree, return it if you haven't used it. You do have to do some search and find on this fabric. Some are washable some are not, some are sew inable and some are iron on.....I believe the one I use says print, let it set for 1-2 hours, the wash in cold water and iron with a hot dry iron to set the ink.....

Thanks for the tips. Guess I'll try and return it and get the color fast version. Don't know why I didn't see that when I was there! My sister was with me, so maybe we were talking too much LOL!!

The photo is of June Tailor's Colorfast sheets. They're washable. What made you think they're not? They all fade on repeated washing, but that's because the inks are not permanent, not because of the sheet used.
