It looks like a block adds 20 inches, so adding another row of blocks on two sides will make a quilt 122 X 122. That's a pretty big quilt. Would adding a half a block on two sides look dorky? You need to figure how many blocks you want to add, then take the yardage for the throw and figure our how much of that you want to add to yours. It would be less than half if you made half blocks, and a little more than all of it if you added whole blocks. A whole block is an X. That should help you figure out the yardage.
Good luck.

I've been quilting as i go since i was 12 (now 55)
made most of my quilts that way, but i use 1/4" seams.
just sounds like a way to use more fabric,
maviskw- thanks for taking the time to explain it to me. Very helpful And big Thanks again.
Now I'm curious. If you use 1/4 inch seams, how do you hide the raw edges. They're too small to fold under.

Lynnie, it is obvious that you are more than familiar with QAYG, having made most of your quilts that way. I am curious as to whose method you use. I would like to try QAYG and there are so many methods out there, it is confusing as to which one is better. Also, any helpful hints you could share would be great. Thanks for any help you are able to offer!
