I just wanted to show you what DH brought home. This belonged to dear MIL who recently passed. I have been trying to date the machine but can not find the exact match. I thought maybe someone here might be able to help.
Thanks-Ginger

This is a 1907 Singer model 27 with gingerbread decals. At least, I think these are gingerbreads... It's a vibrating shuttle machine that takes long bobbins, and has an amazing throat space! What a blessing to have it, esp. it having been your MIL's machine.

She was born in 1909 in Elizabeth, J. She sure is pretty!
(I looked up the serial number at www.singerco.com)

I have been lamenting that I did not get my
Grandmother trandle singer sewing machine when she passed. Don't know what have to any of her things. I was just 21 at time. Now that I am older and quilt that is the only thing I wish I had. I remember it had caving on the drawers. Don't know if they were exactlly like your pictrue. But as I think back it had a bueatiful had cabinet.

Thanks for the quick replies. I am so tickled about the new machine. I need to get a throat plate for it and she will be ready to go.MIL could never sew on a electric machine she just couldn't get they hang of it but she was always using her treadle and very paticular about its care.

My mistake, the Singer dating chart did say 1909.

I have this 27's twin - those are called "Gingerbread" or "Tiffany" decals.

Mine is in an ornately carved 7-drawer cabinet similar to yours.

It's very rewarding to get them cleaned and running - and they're fun to sew on. :)
