Here's the details you were after: Disappearing Nine Patch Quilts by Nancy Brenan Daniel - not too sure if I am unable to post the ISBN here. If you need that too please PM me with your email address & I'll forward it on to you.

P.S It took me over 6 months to locate this book - well its only 16 pages, I adventually found it online at a shop in Vancouver - I bought the last 2 copies one for my cousin & one for myself. Apparently it is out of print at this current time. Good Luck

I hate it when a good quilting book is no longer available.
Sewing with Nancy had a great way to use strips of different sizes to make blocks. I watched her video to do it and it is a great pattern but the book is no longer available. The video is on QNN.

Interesting... I didn't know anyone had written a book about it! I first saw it done in a quilt guildmeeting nearly 20 years ago, when rotary cutting was new and exciting. That was our favorite kind of lesson - "how to sew, cut (with the rotary cutter), rearrange and sew again" projects. Eleanor Burns had recently revolutionized quiltmaking with her log cabin and trip around the world books, and everyone was rotary-cutter-mad. The funny thing is, machine quilting was still definitely lower-class at that time. Now it's just one more method of finishing a quilt!
I feel old sometimes....
Oh - I don't think it was called a Disappearing Nine Patch back then - probably something like "Cutup NinePatch" or "Sliced and Diced".

Thanks for posting that! I oftentimes forget that website exists. I need to feed my book frenzy!

I think I'll have to search for it, but I think that someone mentioned on here that you can get a lot of different layouts from the same block. I don't know if it's imilar to the different layouts you can get on a Log Cabin, but there are differences out there.
Izy also made a very pretty one that also had triangles in it. I believe she posted a tute to go with it.

I there... I'm the original author of the Disappearing Nine Patch Series... writing and designing the first and second edition.
I first demonstrated this over 20 years ago. AND YES... one publisher... has stepped on my copyright rather a bit.
The technique is still a process that is evolving. I'll be showing some brand new variations during the Houston Quilt Festival, 2010. That class is already sold out!
Quilters are smart. They know the 'original' when they see her. ;-)
