Interesting... I didn't know anyone had written a book about it! I first saw it done in a quilt guildmeeting nearly 20 years ago, when rotary cutting was new and exciting. That was our favorite kind of lesson - "how to sew, cut (with the rotary cutter), rearrange and sew again" projects. Eleanor Burns had recently revolutionized quiltmaking with her log cabin and trip around the world books, and everyone was rotary-cutter-mad. The funny thing is, machine quilting was still definitely lower-class at that time. Now it's just one more method of finishing a quilt!

I feel old sometimes....

Oh - I don't think it was called a Disappearing Nine Patch back then - probably something like "Cutup NinePatch" or "Sliced and Diced". :lol:
