Do you tie your threads at the end of a seam when piecing?

I started using a 2.0 stitch length because sometimes when I press where there are cross seams, they would start to come apart. Once you get it all pieced, sandwiched and quilted, it should be pretty secure. If I remember to, I backstitch on outer blocks and I try to on borders too.

This is the methods that I use. When sewing Y type seams you do not sew clear to the edge of the fabric but stop at the 1/4 inch point. There are some areas on the back of your quilt top where seams join. If you unstitch a few stitches you then can make the intersection of fabric lay much flatter. There are several threads regarding this topic available.
