Default Fabric Stores found while cruising?

Anyone go on a cruise and actually find some fabric stores?

We are leaving Saturday out of Miami and going to Grand Cayman, Belize, Honduras, and Cozumel.

I was hoping to find some fabric in each of the locations and make a memory quilt out of it, but I can't find anything online. So my shopping will be hit-and-miss, and probably taking things like sarongs and shirts etc to cut up.....

Anyone find places I could go at any of these stops?

Thanks much!
Chris

My sister-in-law found a wonderful batik for me at a general/grocery store in American Samoa. So try that type of place. She said they had a number of different fabrics hanging from the ceiling.

On a quick search of our members here... on advanced search for location... none for Grand Cayman...but lots for Belize....BUT..... no postings from any of the registered "members" sorry!.... hope you can find something. When we docked in Grand Cayman unfortunately there was a strike going on and they wouldn't let any of the tours operate.... we found a car and guide but as it was Sunday... it was a total waste. I really hope you have success as I know I have seen picture postings from these areas.

Here's a link to a posting here on the board that might give you some insight? http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...o-t240464.html

If you don't find fabric stores you could always buy shirts or t-shirts to cut up and make a memory quilt.

My brother brought me a batik tablecloth and napkins to use for fabric when he was in Africa. He actually didn't remember I'd asked for fabric until he was at the airport to leave and bought from a shop there.

I have only cruised the southern Caribbean and there was a tour on one island of a batik making place, we bought napkins and beach wraps there, of the material as it wasn't sold as yardage.

Have fun.

I have been to all of those places and did not see fabric shops. You will find wraps, t-shirts, clothes and table cloths, napkins however that could be used.

Go on google maps to each location and search for fabric store. I found some near where the ship docked. It's called a Parisina.

Wow! Enjoy your trip! I usually take addresses and directions to shops, but most of my travel is car trips in the US. You might also find some unusual buttons or trim ideas in addition to fabric.

I have been to most of those places never saw a fabric shop, but never thought to look for one either. I am going to Alaska in June. I know there are some there!
