citruscountryquilter and keelyer21 You don't have to wait for the glue to dry. I checked the Elmer's site and they said to use a small amount, place next piece over glued piece and iron with a hot iron and it dries and sticks instantly. No problem sewing over it - no residue on needle.

I keep extra glue sticks in a freezer ziplock bag in my freezer so they won't dry out. I have had some sticks dry out in a drawer when stored in there for a long time.

I bought a small bottle of Elmer's school glue and tried it on a sample sandwich. It's great. I'll be ordering a gallon as soon as I use the remaining 505 that I have on hand. Thanks to everyone for this great money saving tip.

I love this stuff. The last few quilts I have basted with Elmer's have been so easy to quilt- fast and easy to baste. The bottles and sticks are on sale in Ontario this week- back to school supplies I guess. No school for me but I did stock up for my quilting studio.
