Embroidery Thread and Quilting?

You might try using an embroidery needle with any thread-- 75/11 works well with my machine -- it's totally "not recommended" -- made the mistake of leaving it on and having the machine serviced -- the tech was "astonished" that that needle was in my machine and took it out! Glad I had a few more

I've been using machine embroidery thread for about 2 years and haven't had any problems yet, so I'll continue to use it. I use a "quilting" needle in my machine, either a 12 or a 14(don't remember which) and never had a problem with thread breakage. I get my thread from Metro.com, great prices and great service, it's a poly thread.
