Here's a picture of a quilt called Concentric Frame

Another option is to simply make a whole cloth quilt with your cherished fabric. Put on a border if you like and have the whole piece quilted. Voila! You don't HAVE to cut up your fabric.

Why not quilt the whole fabric, add a contrasting border, problem solved.

Try doing a Nancy Zieman column quilt to show off the fabric or really big squares surrounded with sashing, to effectively show off the fabric. You may be happy with those results.
