Thanks for introducing me to this pattern.
Oh how beautiful the finished quilts were when I started googling!
(Not that I needed another project!)
A few links and I found this one ...
... scroll down and you can see a block close up with the seamlines ...

So, definitely an easy-peasy PP design!
You make flying geese within HSTs,
and then join the HSTs to make squares.
Join the squares and you have a quilt!

The second quilt is my Indian Summer. http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...r-t212358.html
As others have said, there are no Y seams, the pattern was easy.

I agree. There are no curves in this pattern or Y seams. I am doing her New York Beauty called Island Sunrise. If you are not familiar with paper piecing technique, try to find something simpler on Crafty website to hone up on your skills.

I have never done paper piecing, but my sister has. Maybe she can give me a little class some weekend. One day, I may break down and get the pattern. In the mean time, I have several tops all pinned up and ready to hand quilt. Maybe I will try to not think about new patterns for a little bit. I do thank all of you for your help. Any time I've ever asked a question here, I have always received a wealth of information in the answers.

I'm almost positive that I have this JN pattern, along with two file cabinet drawers full of other JN patterns! For those of you who have never PP, it is the most accurate and consistent way to ensure your blocks come out just about as perfect as can be. I absolutely LOVE PPing because of its accuracy. After I completed Tropical Rainbow, I measured it, and it was completely square, all because of the accuracy of the PPing method. The thing I find daunting is trying to follow JN cutting instructions. Once that is accomplished, I'm good to go. In the next few days I'll have the binding sewn on my Tropical Rainbow, then I'll post it.
Carol Doak has a video that shows how to PP that is really good. One key to make the paper easier to remove is to take really small stitches. If I need to print out a PP pattern, I use Scribble Pad paper from the Dollar Tree (found in the school supply/kids section) that has 40 sheets in each pad for $1.00. If you need bulk paper, you should be able to find 350 sheets for around $5 on the internet.

Hi, there! I am in Michigan, and Y-seams? I do them with my eyes closed. I'd be ever so happy to walk you through it, but we're so far away. I don't know how to put personal information (like a telephone number) on this site. You can, however, email me at [email protected] and we can get you going!
