I am looking for a pattern for the dog cot that stands about 5 or 6 inches off the floor. It has a frame and 4 short legs and fabric is stretched on top. The frame is usually made out of PVC tubing. My DH made the frame but I am having trouble figuring out the measurements for the canvas top. Any help would be much appreciated.

Made once once.. measure across from pole to pole, add around 1-2 in. for give (I have a heavy dog if there isn't enough give things will just rip out), measure around the circumference of the pole, add around 1 1/2-2 in. (1 in. double folded for the sleeve seam and 1/2-1 in. for "give") Don't forget to run double seams - side by side - for strength. Once I got things kind of where I wanted them I cut out the corners so you could slide the poles through and then bound the raw edges (before you make the sleeves) make the sleeves and done. May not be perfect but it held the dog.

They are called Kuranda Beds. You could get the dimensions
here, if that is what you are asking for.

Thank you so much, Aunty M, for the info. Isn't this board just amazing? My husband can't believe how fast I got an answer to my question. Hubby and I are going to experiment with this info. 1st thing in the morning. Thanks again.

I've seen these at the local shelter here...so neat. A few weeks ago a friend was telling me that she has been trying to make them, she started over a year ago and never finished them...lol.

My Rottweiler, Papa Bear, has hip problems. We bought him a Kuranda bed and not only does he love it, but sleeping on the Kuranda has helped alleviate his pain. He gets up much more easily and walks better too. Now, we have one for outdoor and another one for indoor. I hope your dog likes it.

Happy to say hubby and I made the doggie cot today and turned out fine. Next one will be much easier now that we kind of know what we're doing. Daughter has a dog salon in Bonita Springs, Fl. and is expanding her business into a boarding inn along with the salon, so needs several doggie cots. Maybe 3 different sizes.
