I am thinking about getting the bias maker that JoAnns will have on sale next weekend. Does anyone have one? The strip cutter will also be on sale. My dh said I should get both, but I wanted to know what others think before buying them.

I was thinking of getting the bias maker also and wondering if anyone has used. I would not recommend the strip cutter I got one and it won't cut the fabric even after doing what the directions said. It was a waste of money and I've read other peoples comments about it and most day the same thing.

I have the bias maker and it works great for me. I use the 2 1/2" bias tool on it. I made up yards of binding at one time so now all I have to do is pick one when I need it. I use straight cut with the 2 1/2" tool, no problem. Hint: A jelly roll will be your best friend making binding.

I tried out the strip cutter but decided I didn't need it. It would take practice to get straight strips but I can see where it would be very handy for fabric strips for rugs or crocheting where exact straightness wasn't an issue.

I saw a demo on it. Looked interesting, but would have to be a really good buy.

I too, would like the bias strip maker. I don't mind cutting strips to use in it..so i am not interested in the strip cutter...

nice to have a DH that is supportive and makes a suggestion like that!

I think I paid about $80 for mine. It works great and saves me a lot of boring folding and ironing and a lot of time so it was a very good buy. :D :D :D . I have sold enough pre made custom binding to guild members to pay for the machine several times over. Custom fabric 1/2" pre made bias binding for a king size quilt sells for $15 at quilt shops. I make 2 1/2" binding for a king size for guild members, they provide the fabric they want it made from.

I also have been considering buying one of these. I haven't checked into it too closely, yet. Do you buy the individual sized accessories for each binding size? It does take some time to make binding and that is time better spent on quilting .. huh?

Unless you buy the premade binding or hire it sewn on, you have to make binding one way or the other. The machine saves a lot of time so that gives me more time to quilt. The different size tips are sold separate from the machine. It comes with a 1/2 tip.

I got both for Christmas. Love the Bias maker. So much faster than the old way. T had to make lots before Christmas for all the table runners I made. Would have saved me about an hours work.

I need to practice with the strip cutter. Think it will take some practice getting it straight but would save time.
