Default Floor lamp

I hear a lot of comments about buying sewing/crafting floor lights at Lowe's instead of places like Joann Fabrics - because they are so much cheaper. Can someone tell me what to look for at Lowe's? I would like to compare the lights. I bought a floor model from Joann Fabrics about 10 years ago and I'm still using it. Only replaced the bulb once. But if I can save dollars, I'm all for looking at Lowe's!

I found my Ott floor lamp at Lowes. It was much cheaper than a comparable light at Joann Fabrics. I came upon it by accident one day in the lamp section.

Cheers, K

I got one at Big Lots for $30 that Joann's wanted $100 for. Works great!

My husband just bought three Ott light bulbs for my ceiling light fixture (birthday present). Even with 50% off coupons from JoAnns, they were cheaper @Lowe's. The floor lamp if 49.99 at Lowe's also.

I just bought the floor lamp at Lowe's this weekend for $49.99. The only problem is that it is too short.

I am so glad someone asked this question. I need a lamp as well, what kind of floor lamp would you suggest? How much wattage? I was looking at the JoAnn's ad and they had wattage from 15W to 25W, didn't sound like very much.

The wattage is for fluorescent bulbs. 18-24 W is sufficient as a floor lamp to allow you to read, sew, do close up work. It seems to be about the same light as a 100W or higher incandescent light bulb.

I got an ott floor lamp when they first came out and were pretty expensive but hubby liked it so much he stole it! I waited and found them at lowes cheap, had to buy hubby new one as the new ones are better!! Im visually impaired so they really help me see better! I put the original lamp in sewing room to help with extra lighting when needed!

I'll have to keep this info in mind...I use an old "torche type" floor lamp with a super bright bulb. I haven't ever had to change the bulb!
