I am in the process of making a quilt for a friend to donate for a school fund raising auction. She wants it to be a Football field made with the field in the center, then the borders being the school colors. This is not a big deal - unless you know zippity do da nada about football!

I spent my day plotting out my field, measuring my yardage lines and the goal lines. Putting the little hash marks down the side lines and all the other things that would make a piece of green Kona cotton look like a football field.

Whoever invented Chaco Liner is a god or goddess, BTW.

I am a yardage line short! I put 10 lines across the fabric but I should have made 11 lines. I screwed up badly. I'll either have no end zone on one end of the field or I'll have no 50 yard line. Crap!
I thought about cutting it apart and piecing in a section with a line in the center to make the 50 yard line but I think it will stick out like a sore thumb. I suppose I'll have to suck it up and redo it tomorrow. What a waste of fabric.

If you look at football on TV, sometimes at center field they have the team logo. Maybe there is a way you could cut it in half and at center field piece together a team logo or something with the team colors! If the team logo is kind of complicated, they might have it on a T-shirt or something that you could applique to a new green strip in the middle. Just an idea.
Sorry you're having trouble with it. Would love to see pics when you're done.

I like Grammy's idea about the team logo in the center. I think that would be a nice touch and a good save!

p.s. I've made that mistake sewing. Sorry you're having trouble.

I had my football fanatic husband look at it. Right away he said "You only have 9 yardage lines" in his next breath he said "Noone will ever notice." Right. I'll know it, and I was going to embroider the numbers on the yardage lines so I kind of have to have all of them! I'm going to remake it. I'll find a fun sport themed print to use for the borders on the bad one and donate it to the local child shelter instead of throwing it away.
