Default Glide thread & Flannel

I have the perfect color of Glide thread to use on flannel (top and backing) BUT. GLIDE tends to have a shinier finish. In your opinion would a shinier finish thread be a no no with flannel?

If it is a client quilt I would ask. The one flannel quilt I did, I used a cotton thread with no sheen and it looked great but Glide may have as well. Sometimes color wins when it comes to thread. I will pick the color over the content or sheen.

Puddle it up on the quilt and see how it looks. I bet it will be fine. Or when you do you top baste stitch that should be a good indication of how nicely it will play with the flannel.

I would say no - but I think it's personal preference. I'm sure it will be loved just the same no matter what thread you use - and I agree that if it is for a client I would ask first.

If the flannel is multicolored I suggest a variegated thread. King Tut by Superior has a huge selection

I also like Glide thread and have used it with both flannel and fleece....it just sinks in beautifully!
