What I did on mine (which is using a cheapie fleece throw for the batting) was lay down a line of glue every couple of inches on the fleece and smoothed the backing over it. Then repeated on the other side for the top. Then turned back over and smoothed the backing again and repeated with the top to be sure it was as smooth as possible. Left it laying on the table overnight. Haven't gotten back to work on quilting it yet.

You can wait, or iron...I've done both...I prefer ironing...I find the glue holds better.

Just got done quilting diagonal lines through the center of the blocks. Best results I've had on a quilt. Debating whether to go back and do ones the opposite way (creating an X in each block). Since my batting is a cheapie fleece throw it's not really necessary for stability.
