I googled "how to use a strip tube ruler" and found a YouTube video - it does work pretty slick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3k85E3lzfU&autoplay=1

It's easier to have the ruler pre marked for the size block you want with all allowances built in. In fact I got to looking for mine last night and found two of them. One still with the clearance price of $3 on it from a LQS that closed. I never pass up a clearance price on quilting tools.

Thanks for posting this disijudy, I really enjoyed watching the video showing how to use the ruler. What a fun tool.

I have the large strip tube ruler and am a HUGE fan of this ruler and Cozy Quilt Designs patterns. Complicated looking quilts made easy. She has many, many videos on YouTube showing many of the patterns. For me, I enjoy her tutorial videos as much as Jenny Doan's, I subscribe to Cozy Quilt Designs and when a new pattern video comes out I receive notice. I wouldn't hesitate in getting the strip tube ruler and most definitely buy her patterns that are strip tube friendly. (Not affiliated just a big fan)

I have a similar triangle ruler from Fons and Porter - got at Joann's - it's nice because it does the math and it has a colored tip at the top as well, so you've got multiple ways to line it up and improve your accuracy. If your strip is wonky or you cut one a bit off you can line it up and make the adjustment.

I have two and never have used them. Must have forgot I bought the first one and then bought a second one but have not used it so I guess for me this was a waste of money.
