Georgia is one of the first quilt instructors to showcase the quilt as you go method. To me, she along with Eleanor Burns, Kay Woods, Jenny Beyer, Billie Lauder and Mary Ellen Hopkins started the modern day quilting as we know it.

Georgia Bonesteel taught lap quilting for years, and her reruns are still shown on PBS here in North Carolina. She lives about 1 1/2 hr from me. Her books are still for sale, and have lots of information.

Most quilt blocks are based on a single block ... a four patch ... a nine patch ...
so, when you are looking at a more complicated block, such as say: carpenter's wheel (a block that has 64 pieces in it) ... if you can break the whole block into a grid of four by four, then the block begins to look more manageable ... it is a way to observe how a block or quilt is made. <wave>
