Default Guess What I Found at the Goodwill Today!

I'm a garage sailor and thrift store junky. We moved a couple of years ago and I have to say that it's slim pickins around here and I've been going through withdrawls. Our local Goodwill rarely has anything of value and they want a fortune for what they do have. BUT! Today I found a treasure hidden between the brand new S'more Maker and the crock pot without a crock...a beautiful, older, Rowenta Iron for only $5! It's the "vintage" type that has a hefty weight and shiny, smooth plate, and steam and spray feature. It was definitely a luxury model. Martha Stewart would be so proud of me!

Cool find! I like the vintage irons too (black and chrome with the cloth covered cord) though I'm not currently using one.
I may pick one up just so my iron goes with my vintage machines.

To heck with Martha Stewart - I'm proud of you!

Both DH and I make frequent trips to the local Goodwill - I often find fabric and he looks for 45 records. We're kind of 'in and out' types because we always know what we are willing to bring home and don't bother looking anywhere else in the store.

I used to have one like that! Just make sure you let it heat all the way up so it doesn't spit up water. I dropped mine and ruined it. ;~(
I had my mom's old one for a long time with the fabric cord and no steam slots. It finally gave up the ghost and wouldn't heat anymore.

Great find and I hope you have a good long relationship with it. What a steal at that price!

Great score! I have a couple of $5 Rowentas in my bookcase as backup just in case my Rowenta ever finally gives out. It is about 20 years old, has survived several unintended trips to a concrete floor, and is held together by heat-proof glue and duct tape (thanks to dh). It's worked fine for about 10 years that way. My backups are the same model!

I hate the new irons. They just don't get hot enough. Congrats on your find. I, too, find that Goodwill is pricey. Please remember that Goodwill is a gentleman who requests donations and re-sales.

I have two Rowenta's, one I bought new in the 80's and the other one I got at Salvation Army store. It cost $5.00, must be a going price for used irons, lol. They are good iron's but the latest one I have purchased is the isolo pro itouch, I love it and it heats up very fast and stays on for 30 minutes before it will shut off. I like everything about it but still keep my Rowenta's for back up.
