When I'm sewing two triangles together (rather than working with the squares), I've started to put a dot of Glue Baste-It in the seam line at the tip. This has really helped cut down on slippage and points getting chewed up.

Thangles are a great way to get a bunch of hs triangles done if you are doing lots with the same colors.

We know the bias will twist-but you need to be in the driver's seat to keep it from happening. I pin mine in three places and I use a stiletto to keep the bias edges together as they pass through the machine-it is essential to the outcome of the HST.

I'm a big fan of starch. Even when I make half square triangles using the square, diagonal line, stitch 1/4" on each side of line method, I still starch my fabric until it is stiff. It helps stabilize the bias which can stretch even using the square method-- and I think you get nicer looking stitches with stiff fabric. Also, it makes it a lot easier to get good crisp pressed seam allowances if you are pressing to the side and that makes it easier to get everything lined up when putting together your blocks.
