I just got about 2 weeks ago an embriodery machine and someone wants me to embrioder the name of his company on those sock hats (I think that is what they are called) can you do this? and what stablizer would I use?

    Thanks for your input.

if they are a knit type of material,a tear away on the back and a water soluble on the front would be good

Renee..I'm certainly not a pro, but I would not use the water soluable on both sides. I would use the tear away or better yet..cut away on the inside of the cap. It would remain under the stitching over time and continue to hold the stitching up out of the knit...does that make sense??

Also...I might even use the cut away sticky so that I didn't have to leave a hoop mark on the hat.

Thanks, I'm going to go and ask the lady at the store also. I hope to have the hat by then so she can see it, and advise me also in which direction to go. I did see somewhere not to stretch the hat because the embriodery will pucker. It's a side job for me one of many it seems, which might be a good back up for me if needed.

Thanks everyone and I'll post next week how they came out.

I find the best Stabilizer is the tear away and the wash away together.
You put the tear away on and then the wash away on top.
Hope this will help you and good luck with your new embroidery machine.
