I was at a recent sewing retreat and there was a cutting table set up, BUT! It was as tall as one of those bar-type tables that one needs tall stools to sit at. I asked why and was informed that the correct height should be that "elbow height" , same as sewing machine.....I did not try it, but it looked strange. Does anyone here have their table that high?

I do because I'm tall 5'10" and anything short kills my back. I have shorter friends that use a flat stepstool who use my table. I think my table is about 42 inches tall. I also sew on it standing up and don't have the shoulder fatigue I used to get when I sewed sitting down.

Everything I've read says that a cutting table should be no higher or lower than 3" above/below your elbow. I believe my cutting table is about 32" high, I measured it a couple of years ago but don't remember the exact height.

I can't tell you the height, but I cut on my clothes dryer....standard old style. I am only 5'5" and this height is just perfect for me. A regular table (standard kitchen height) is too short and I end up bending over too much.

The table I use is my old dog grooming table that I put a 40x40 piece of plywood on. To make it tall enough to be comfortable I used the bed risers. I'm only 5' tall and it works great. Without the risers I would be bending over the table and very uncomfortable.(grooming tables are usually used sitting down)

Due to circulatory and lung issues, I find it hard to stand and cut for any decent period of time..I have found that cutting using the coffee table while I sit on the sofa works best for me to get a lot done...might be a strange mathod, but works for me

I have my sewing table and cutting table fastened together, back to back at kitchen counter height (i'm 5'6") which saves my back when cutting, and also gives me a six foot square working surface to support the big projects. The two tables' legs were different lengths, so my DH built a stepped box platform at the required height to even them out. Then I bought I drafting chair that sets me a the right height to sit and sew at my machine (which he cut a hole for to set into my table top so it is level) I like the set up.

I use several different tables including one of those 4 foot hard plastic folding tables from Lowe's. I put bed riser (they come in different heights) under the legs to make them the perfect height and that is perfect for me (I am 5'3") so most of the world is not the correct size for me either being too short or too tall.

That would be too high for me. My cutting table is about 3 inches lower than my waist. This allows me to easily put some pressure on ruler and cutter with my upper body instead of just my arms.

My cutting table is Pre-fab kitchen cabinets with a door on top. Works great for me, perfect height but I'm 5'5".
