Default Help with Hello Kitty

My granddaughter is 6 and is in love with Hello Kitty. I told her that I would make her a quilt and of course she wants Hello Kitty. I am on a budget and don't want to spend a fortune on a Hello Kitty quilt. I know this may sound selfish but $ 8-10 per yd for Hello Kitty fabric. If she wanted something that she wouldn't outgrow I wouldn't mind the cost. Any suggestions?

If you have a resource to do machine embroidery, there are some free patterns here, 80 pages, so do a quick scan through til you find the. I think there are 4-6 designs at least.

Then you could use the pricey fabric for sashing.

Do you have a Hancock Fabrics near you? I know that they sell this fabric. You can use a Hancock coupon or a Joann's coupon on it. If you have a coupon that is a higher % off than the sale price Hancock's will change the price back to full price and let you use your coupon. Some Joann's carry this fabric also but some will change the price so you can use a coupon and some won't. The Joann's in Ft Wayne, IN won't but it doesn't hurt to ask!!!

This what I have. (I think) I'm past the little girl stage. PM me if you want it. OOps that got big. It is in a box at my SIL, might take me a week or so to get it.

I also have a DGD who like Hello Kitty. I remember seeing a pixel quilt of Hello Kitty. If you are good at drafting, then all you would need is regular fabrics. Here is a google search link of Hello Kitty ~ https://www.google.com/search?q=Hell...2F%3B500%3B375

I know they have Hello Kitty at Joann's and if you use a coupon you can pick it up for 50% off 9.99 (reg price).

Good luck!

Hello Kitty is a simple line drawing the could be turned into applique easily. Find a drawing you like, size it up and applique a center panel of Hello Kitty. Do any pieced blocks around the edges until it is up to size.

what about using fabric from your stash and taking a couple of pages from a hello kitty coloring book to use and do fusible applique ? Then she gets Hello Kitty, and you get to shop your stash !

I have made 2 HK rag quilts and I am working on a third. The first was a Christmas gift, the second sold before I finished it. I used a yard of HK fabric bought for $5 a yard on a 50% off sale at Hancock's in each. The rest of the fabric was just fabric that went with the HK. I did one pink and white, on purple and pink and the one I am working on is blue and yellow. I used every last string in applique and crazy quilt squares to finish out the quilts. I hope you post a picture of what you come up with.
