Wouldn't the corners that you are cutting on the diagonal be smaller than the uncut corners because you are taking out 2 (1/4") seams? I think those corner pieces should be larger to compensate for the diagonal cuts.

Is it just me ...but i think i'd like that quilt more w/ fewer fabrics...like maybe do 2 sets of snowball blocks (for a total of 4 fabrics) and just alternate em? and do you think if you used shades of purple and did that it would look sort of like pansy flowers??

I don't know the name of the pattern either, but it looks to me like you sew rectangles of fabric (example 4 1/2" x 2 1/2")together alternating light and dark, then cut cross hatch style to achieve the block then put the squares back together in the pattern desired. Thank you for the link, this will be another one to add to my bucket list.

Thanks to everyone who has posted. Jan as always you amaze me with your talents and anyone fortunate enough to have you for a teacher is certainly blessed! I loved looking at all the Iron Quilter entries and I'm so glad that many of you were able to look at all the entries too.
What a wonderful group of 'sharing and caring' people frequent this board. I'm a self-taught quilter much of it by this board and I'm still learning more and more by being a member here.
