Interesting, never thought of using an eraser. I usually am careful to clip on the side of the seam that the fabric is going to be discarded so that goes in to the "Save the scraps for dog bed" sack.

I love the "eraser" head on this tool but I have to admit it's not my favorite seam ripper. I like either very small, fine seam ripper points, or my real favorite is the scalpel style. But when I go to a class, I usually only bother to bring this one. It's not my favorite but it works well enough. At home I pretty much only use the eraser part of it (but I do use that part enough that I don't feel it was a wasted purchase.)

I have to agree it is a fantastic tool! I was a hard to be sold, as I loved, loved my other seam ripper, until I tried it. I knew needed to have it. I bought it came home gave it to DH said "here this can be a present." He is always looking for something special. We started the list thing when the kids were younger. We make a Wish List, all year of inexpensive little things, for grandkids can get us now.

I just googled "seam rip thread remover" and several things popped up. Here's one on Amazon:

I have one and love it. It's called seam-fix. You can see how it works on this YouTube video:
