My wonderful husband is going to build me a cutting table. What do you suggest as to the dimensions. I would like it to be about 6x8. I just dont know what height to make it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am very happy with mine. It is 4'x8' and the same height as kitchen counters (this eliminates back strain from having to bend over to cut). I am 5'8" tall and this is a comfortable height for me. Good luck.

Although bigger seems better, remember that if a table is six feet wide you won't be able to reach the other side. I think the suggested height is just about waist level. You should check out some of the high end cutting tables for sale and see what the dimensions are on those.

Man I miss my old home made table. It was big enough to fit everything (sew, cut, and press) with storage shelves on the bottom for my sewing machines and supplies. Too bad I gave it away. Oh well....my loss there.

Countertop height + or - depending on your height. I am tall so mine is countertop plus 2 inches. I often put whatever I'm mixing or dicing on a thick cutting board when I have to stand at my counter for long periods so the height of my custom cutting table was a no brainer for me.
I actually prefer my 36" square top cutting table to the larger ones. I can easily walk all the way around it to cut all angles. I can see where the larger sizes would be handy for squaring a quilt but I spend way more time cutting & sub-cutting strips for blocks & borders so the smaller size works better for me.
