Made my biggest mistake ever!! Made a magnificent king size quilt. Gave it to the la with the binding. She did a fantastic job of quilting, but not so good with sewing on the binding (sewn to the front only). Parts of it were a quarter inch seam, parts were three eighths, and one small section was almost one half inch. If I had started sewing it as it was, my binding on the back would not have covered the stitching line. So, I trimmed everything back to a quarter. Except, I CUT OFF THE CORNER FABRIC!! Now my mitered corner is gone. There's fabric even with both sides when it's flipped over, but nothing to make a miter. Upset is not the right word for my state of mind right now, because this is a wedding gift. Any suggestions as to what I can do? The entire quilt is fixed and pinned, except for this one corner. Please help.

I've done that before and totally understand your heartache. What I did was remove the binding about 4 inches (maybe more, not exactly sure) on each side of the corner, cut the binding on each side, added a strip back in between the two cut sides the length of the needed piece, then sewed it back on the quilt. It isn't easy, but it can be done.
I hope that makes sense. Good luck!

Audrey, thanks, that's what I did. You're right, it wasn't easy. A friend came over and helped, and we got it done in about an hour. It probably would have taken me a lot longer. Now I can go back to where I was early this morning.
Sorry I can't send you a ticket, but if you find yourself here, pm me and we can meet. Love to meet other quilters.

I get to Las Vegas once or twice a year. When we lived in the LA area we were there every 6 weeks or so, but now that we are in Texas we can't go as often. I'll keep your info where I can find you again.

If I understand it correctly you cut of the corner binding. Take loose the stiches of that binding for about 12 inches or more on each side of that corner. Add ample of new binding fabric to one side and just start sewing the binding down again 1/4 in. from that side. Do the mitered corner, go past the corner for about 5 inches and now connect the binding ends and sew down everything.

Agree with lfletcher, not sure why the LA'er even tried to sew the binding on especially on a LA. I move my quilts from my midarm sitdown to my domestic to bind to be able to get a truly straight seam.
glad you were able to solve the issue though.
