pillow's or bags! i have made small 'gift-bags' with young kids, with a ribbon drawstring, the kids love making a bag they can use, they also love pillows, the stuffing part is lots of fun!

Cut squares and have them draw their favourite picture using Crayola crayons. Iron to set the colour and stitch the squares together for a camp banner or table cloth. Make sure the squares for the background are poly/cotton as the wax does not adhere to the pure cotton nearly as well. It's remarkable how well the colour sets into the fabric and it can be washed in cool water without losing its vibrancy. I've made classroom quilts using this technique and they've been great and been lasting memories for years. If you didn't want a large banner you could have each square made into a mini banner for the kids to take home. It would just be a matter of elongating your starting piece of fabric to leave enough room to make a small casing at the top and inserting a piece of dowling so it could be hung. Happy creating!

By hand or machine. If it's by machine you could always use fleece and let them make a Quillow. Just have it cut ahead of time.

you can also do fleece blankets. you really need to ask just how functional these kids are. can they handle scissors can they sit at a sewing machine. how much help are you going to have. these things will determine just what you can do. also how much do you want the kids to do and have done for them. will they be taking the craft home or left at the camp. you are going to have so much fun doing this. also you need to look at your budget and see how much you are willing to go over the budget to get some really nice crafts. (they never budget enough to cover crafts) just some thoughts. You might even want to have three levels of projects depending on how functional on their own these kids are. that way all kids can do their own project and not the helpers or teacher. (parents really like what their kids make and not what is made for them) even if it is only scribbles. especially when the kid has some disabilities. like if you have some kids that could handle sitting at a sewing machine then pillow cases would be nice for them to make. if all they could do is maybe color. then doing shelbies suggestion of crayons on fabric for a quilt that would be good. you could also take a photo of the each kid that is less functional and print it out on fabric and then have the kids color around it and then you could sew it into a little pillow. (that one would really be a big hit with the parents, especially if there are medical issues with the kids)hope that this helps.

and obviously if you press the fabric to freezer paper it will be easier for them to color on

God bless you with the patience you will need! My sister workes with low functioning adults.she has a batchlers and loves her job, but still comes home stressed some days.I would sudgest a story before coloring and that way you could focus what some of the higher functioning are coloring.Give each one a part of the story show the pictures in the book some may want to draw what they see and others may want to draw what they imagine the picture would be. and again Gods blessings be with you!
