Help in quilting this top
I am considering crosshatching this quilt using the ditch as my guide but don't know what thread will work better. A color that matches the border or this YLI thread I have:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/YLI-Machine-...YAAOSwbdpWbwc-
It came out a little more busy so I want to keep the quilting from showing too much. THANKS.
PS Pattern is Double Diamonds and I will crosshatching the Constitution fabric with ecru thread.

Your quilt is great! I have a son who was born on the 4th of July and I keep wanting to make him a red white and blue quilt. This would be good
I was going to suggest King Tut variegated thread "Freedom".. but your link is very similar. I think that variegated thread would be great

I'm not crazy about variegated thread. When the thread color matches the fabric color, the thread disappears; but when the thread color contrasts with the fabric color, the thread jumps out. That can actually add busyness.
For a busy quilt like this, I would probably choose a fine neutral thread. Jamie Wallen claims the Isacord "baby poop" color (#0232) disappears into almost any quilt. If not that one, I would probably go with a Bottom Line thread in silver (#623), which Bob Purcell of Superior Threads claims disappears into any fabric.

Also, I would suggest reconsidering doing an all-over crosshatch (crosshatch in the borders would be nice). This is already a very geometric quilt. Straight lines of quilting are always going to deviate somewhat from the straight lines in the quilt, even if you use the ditches as a guide. Plus, curving lines in a geometric quilt add softness. If you go with an all-over meander or any kind of curving quilt design, it would add some softness and contrast to the geometric pattern of the quilt. I do think that straight lines (keyboard) or crosshatching in the borders would be very nice, as they would enhance the geometrics of the center portion of the quilt.
Edit: One of my favorite quilting patterns for this quilt would be Baptist Fan, but it is relatively difficult to do with machine quilting.

I don't see how you could go wrong with the thread you mentioned. Looks like it is made for your quilt! (Beautiful quilt, by the way, though I am pretty sure I already told you that.... Doesn't hurt to say it twice, I figure....)

I just finished a multi-colored quilt and I used clear thread on top and thread that matched the bottom in the bobbin and I was very pleased with the way it turned out. And the clear thread was not hard to use.
