I agree with ckcowl. Bias strips are the way to go for the vines.

Cutting them on the bias will allow them to bend as needed. I do traditional applique and when I have a vines to do, I cut bias strips twice the width of the vine plus 1/2 inch. I fold them, right sides together, sew along the long edge, and turn using a bodkin. For narrow vines, I'll trim the seam allowance before turning. Once turned, I iron flat with the seam on the underside and hand applique onto my quilt.

For the candy corn, I'd piece them, then applique the entire candy corn onto the table runner. It looks like the seams are curved, but it's only a slight curve and they can be clipped and eased so they lay flat with no trouble.

Dif should have instructions and templates..call them.

But worse comes to worse I'd copy the picture on the site, cut out one piece of the candy corn and enlarge to desired size on my home printer...same with the vine...stars

I'm making the runner with Michael Miller Fairy Frost Fabric with black as the background.

Runner is made but here's where the troubles started...

The directions call for me to "applique the stars, candy corn and vine". There is a layout diagram - full scale but no applique tempates.

For the stars I have used Steam a Seam Lite 2 and will have no issue with appliqueing them.

What method would you use to make the green vine and the candy corn?? I tried to paper piece the candy corn and was not happy with the resutls. I'm thinking about making a template for the candy corn and using Steam a Seam -- make an whole piece of candy corn in orange, then a smaller piece in yellow and then a smaller piece in white. I would then put a blanket stitch at the edges where those pieces meet.

How about for the green vine??? I can't even come up with an idea to make a wavy continuous vine.

(side note: this was not a cheap pattern - and really the only "directions" were what made the center panel which isn't difficult; this will make me reluctant to purchase other patterns without cracking them open and reading them first!)

Thanks for any help you may have!
Sharon
I would make the whole candy corn out of white and applique the yellow and orange onto it, since the white is the lightest color.

Make a bias strip for the vine.

I would sew strips of white to the yellow fabric, and cut out as one piece.
