Hi-

I am planning my first "big" quilt and was wondering what the dimensions are for a queen/full sized quilt? I can't seem to find it anyplace and different stores have different sizes. I need to know dimensions to purchase fabric.

Thanks!!

double/queen :82 x 108
queen/king: 112 x 112

Remember to allow for depth of mattress, some are really thick, and for your own personal "drop" of the quilt. Also quilting takes up at least 1 inch on all sides. Depends on how heavy the quilting is.

measure from the bottom of your box spring up across the top of the matress and back down to the bottom of the box springs. Add the amount you want your quilt to drop past the bottom of the box springs on each side. Allow for the amout it will draw up after quilting. I've had a heavily quilted top draw up as much as 10 in.

Also take into consideration if you want the quilt to come up over the pillows, too :D:D:D

no longer "one size fits all" in measurements due to mattress sizes. So best to measure where it will be and go from there.
The size has remained the same - queen: 60"x80 but the depth has changed.

If you are making the quilt for a bed in your house measure the mattress on the side so you know how deep it is. the mattress are deeper these days then they used to be. I have sevaral that aren't deep enough. These were made by my granny.

Here's a chart from:
http://www.marianneElizabeth.com and printed in Quilter's Home.

Standard MATTRESS size Width x length

Long Twin (Dorm size)? 39 x 80
Super Single 48 x 84
Full Double 54 x 75
Double XL 54 x 80
Queen 60 x 80

** OK, looked on the site and didn't find it, but I had saved this from the magazine.
Calif. Queen 60 x 84
King (Eastern) 76-78 x 80
King (Calif or West.) 72 x 84
