A friend gifted me this beautiful old quilt top. I know very little about it. It's well put together and in very good shape.
I think I'll add a simple solid color border, which will bring it up to a queen size quilt.
Can you share your thoughts and suggestions about how I should quilt this to accentuate it's simple beauty?

I will likely have to send it out to be long armed, since I am not a hand quilter and have very little experience machine quilting.

Thanks in advance for your input.
Lori

I might duplicate the four petal design in the blank white areas, on a much smaller scale, and then just simple, unobtrusive scrolls on the petals of the flowers themselves.

BEAUTIFUL quilt!! Beautiful gift.

There is an Orange Peel quilt on this page. you have to scroll down a bit. Its in greys. If you click on that picture, you will get one bigger. I tried to post the picture, but it would not copy and then paste for me. Also try googling 'orange peel quilts' You get another pattern too..but if you look, you will see some like yours.

What a fabulous quilt top. Would you possibly tie it?

i would do curved cross hatching in the white sections and leave the applique alone that way they will pop out

Oh Lala Lori,

I would go in and do Charisma curls in the white areas...or swirlies...small stippling.

If you wanted to quilt it yourself..you could outline the flowers and then stipple in the white areas. It would be very pretty.

I think I would hand tie it myself. Your idea of a solid border sounds good, too.
