Hi there, sorry you are having a grumpy teacher, there is nothing worse.

I found it difficult to grasp, however the secret is to place your material on the side of the paper without the lines on it, pin the material onto the paper, hold it up to the light to make sure your materials cover the line, turn it over to the lined side of the paper and machine along the black line.
Continue placing your fabric over each of your numbered points starting at 1 and. Place the first fabric on the paper right with its pattern up and the next piece pattern side down. (hope that makes sense).

Look on this site, it may help.

You need Adobe Reader to download the free patterns in pdf format.

If I can help anymore by explaining ask, please

I took a class with Carol Doak and she is the best "in my book anyway" so if you can get one of here books and CD's you should be able to learn it. Paper pcing is a a lot of fun. Some people say it wastes too much fabric, but then, someone is always going to complain no matter what you do. I hope you have good luck with the teacher and enjoy the class. Marge

I recommended Carol Doak as well. I have 4 of her books and CD's I never paper pieced and I taught myself with her books. One I made I gave to my mother. I will try and take a picture and send. I had so much fun making that lap quilt. I have Carol's paper piece baby quilt book and she has some of the cuted designs. She is real easy to follow. I have to admit though if it's been awhile since I have done paper piece I have to rethink the directions but in a matter of minutes I'm back in rhythm. The CD's come with the books. I ordered all of mine through Amazon.com
