I have been told stitch in ditch is " a cop out." What about sending your top out ?

I would have went over the top with wide eye wonder about this information from that person. I would have said Oh all this time I have been doing it all wrong. Tell me more of what you know is the right way. I would have played it for all it's worth. LOL.

I almost FMQ all of my quilts. I like doing it and I like the looks. Daughter almost always does SITD or straight line through the blocks. Different strokes for different folks. No quilt police but, lots of imitators. I make my quilts to suit me. You should do the same.

Did the person who made this comment also say she had to walk uphill (both ways) in the snow just to get to her LQS? Or that in her day, she had to create batting by hand using just the fur shed by the family's cat? I mean, really! Why should she (or anyone else) dictate what counts as real effort? I'm sorry you were made to feel bad. I say quilt the way you want to and enjoy your work.

Getting my quilt tops finished, quilted, bound and then used is always the goal for me. There are no rules and that is one of the lovely things about quilting, you can do this however you want. Chin up an carry on.
